Alright, let me share one of my favorite little secrets I’ve been using for years…I bribe the universe.
Not with chocolate or money (although who knows, maybe that works too 😄).
I bribe it with perspective.
Anytime I’m working toward something — launching a new project, setting a goal, waiting on an opportunity — I always say:
“This or something better.”
It’s kind of my magic phrase.
I say it in my head. I write it in my journal. I scribble it in my planner and on post-it notes. It’s everywhere.
Why?
Because it reminds me to ask for what I want without being attached to the outcome.
✨ I want this goal.
✨ But if there’s something better lined up for me — I’ll gladly take that instead.
It’s a subtle shift that makes a huge difference.
Instead of gripping too tightly, this practice opens up space for even better things to flow in.
And it’s a powerful tool in business too.
You put the offer out…
You pitch the client…
You set the goal…
And then? You release it.
“This, or something better.”
It’s not just wishful thinking — it’s a way to trust that you’re on the right track no matter the outcome.
The full quote I often use is this:
“This, or something better, now manifests for me in totally satisfying and harmonious ways, for the highest good of all concerned.”
Give it a try this week. Whisper it to yourself after sending an email, before a Zoom call, or when dreaming about the next big thing.
It might just change how you show up — and what shows up for you.
