Labor Day Lessons for Business |
Today we celebrate Labor Day - a holiday that often gets overlooked as just a long weekend, barbecues, or one last trip to the lake before fall kicks in.
But when you look closer, Labor Day was created to honor the contributions of everyday workers who built industries, towns, and communities from the ground up. It’s about recognizing effort, resilience, and the idea that progress doesn’t come from one person’s brilliance, but from steady hands showing up day after day.
And that got me thinking about business.
Building a business - whether it’s an online venture, a local newsletter, or an affiliate brand - is a lot like the labor movement. It’s not glamorous in the beginning. It’s small tasks repeated consistently. It’s learning as you go. It’s showing up, even when no one seems to notice.
But over time, that labor compounds. 👉 The late nights writing your first emails.
It all adds up. And just like Labor Day honors those who laid the foundation for what we enjoy today, your future business will be built on the consistent effort you’re putting in right now.
So here’s my encouragement this Labor Day:
“This, or something better.” The effort is never wasted. |
A Windows Shortcut That Saved Me Time |
I stumbled across something this past week that I had no idea existed - and if you’re using Windows 10 or 11, this little shortcut might save you the same time and frustration it just saved me.
It’s called God Mode.
Now, don’t worry - it’s not complicated, and it doesn’t require any technical skills. Think of it as a master control panel that puts dozens of useful tools and settings into one place. No more digging through menus or clicking endlessly trying to find what you need.
Here’s how to set it up:
That’s it! The folder will instantly transform into a new icon. When you click it, you’ll have one-click access to a huge list of functions that normally take several steps to reach.
For me, this has already cut out a lot of unnecessary clicks and hunting through submenus. If you’re on Windows, give it a try. And if you’re on Mac… well, you can skip this one and just smile knowing we Windows folks finally got a good hack. |

Final Thoughts | ||
Labor Day is a reminder that real progress comes from steady effort, not rushing to the finish line. Whether it’s honoring the work of past generations or finding shortcuts that save us time today, the theme is the same: small steps compound into big results.
This week, take pride in the work you’ve done, and look for the little hacks that make your journey smoother. Both matter.
Here’s to honoring your labor and working smarter, not harder
Until next week..... Lane Evans

⚡Thursday Thrive Hacks⚡Let’s Bust the Perfection Myth Today If you’ve been holding back from posting because things aren’t “just right” — the lighting, the background, your hair, the way you said something — I want to challenge that. Just in case no one’s told you lately… wanting to quit is normal.Especially in the beginning stages of building something online. Not Every Milestone Comes with Fireworks — And That’s OkayThis past weekend, we quietly celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. Nothing fancy. Just some pizza with family on Friday night, and a quiet dinner out with our daughter and her guy on Saturday. With everything going on this year - especially health-wise - we kept it simple. But honestly? It was perfect. |
