The Dirt Dauber Dilemma – And a Reflection on Real Growth |
Happy Monday! Let's dive right into this week's Self Made Sucess Newsletter .....
The other morning, I stepped out to take the dogs on their usual morning ritual. While I was waiting for them to sniff every blade of grass, I happened to glance at the side of my she-shed. The reflection of the pool water was dancing beautifully across the siding. I’d never noticed it before. The timing and the sunlight had aligned just right.
As I stood there enjoying this quiet little show, a dirt dauber suddenly flew straight toward the reflection. Over and over again, it tried to land on the “water.” But of course… it was just a reflection. No water. No mud for the nest. No reward.
After several attempts, the dauber finally gave up and flew away. But that little moment got me thinking… how many times have we done something similar in our businesses?

So, you’ve probably heard me mention my new local newsletter project a few times. But this week? Something exciting happened—and I just had to share it with you.
With the new software I’ve been using, I now have the ability to write search-optimized articles and plug them right into the newsletter for extra exposure. That means more traffic, more eyes, and yes—more subscribers!
To test it out, I wrote a piece titled:
I posted it to my local Facebook page, and boom 💥 — engagement went wild (pun intended):
That’s not a viral sensation, but it’s a solid win in my book—especially for a local campaign.
And guess what?
