V#85 EDITION ~ October 6, 2026 |
I think AI has officially entered its “Fine, I’ll just do it myself” era. |
For the last couple of years, most of us have used AI like a really fast assistant.
“Write this.” “Give me some ideas.” “Fix this headline.” “Make this sound like I knew what I was talking about the first time.”
And that alone has been pretty incredible.
But something is changing.
AI is starting to move beyond helping us create things and into actually doing things.
A newsletter can become a podcast without you sitting behind a microphone.
An article can become a video without spending your afternoon fighting with an editor.
AI can answer customer questions, browse websites, complete tasks and increasingly handle entire little workflows that used to require several different tools. |

Which sounds fantastic...
until you realize we're getting dangerously close to having AI employees who never sleep, never complain and never ask who ate their yogurt in the office refrigerator.
But here's the part I think matters for people like us.
You don't need to become an AI expert to take advantage of any of this.
You just need to start noticing where AI can remove a step, save some time or help you get something finished that you otherwise wouldn't have done.
That's what caught my attention this week. The tools are getting more capable. The opportunity is getting bigger.
But the real question is still surprisingly simple: What can this help me do that actually matters to my business?
Let's get into it. |

WHAT'S ON THE RADAR |
Newsletter-to-Podcast Automation AI Agents Are Moving Into Small Business Operations
What’s happening: Meta just expanded Muse for Small Business, an AI agent designed to work across tools small businesses already use, including Shopify, QuickBooks, Canva, Stripe, Slack, Zoom, Facebook and Instagram. Instead of simply answering questions, the agent can be given goals and work across connected business tools, while requiring approval before it publishes, sends or spends.
AI Search Is Becoming a New Visibility Problem for Small Businesses
What’s happening: New September data is showing a big difference between an AI assistant knowing a business exists and actually recommending it when someone asks who to use. An Insites benchmark covering 8,347 local businesses across seven AI assistants found businesses were recognized by name far more often than they were actually recommended. That's another sign that AI visibility is becoming its own marketing challenge alongside traditional SEO.

AI is changing quickly, and the warnings surrounding it are getting louder.
But for entrepreneurs, the biggest danger may not be the technology itself.
It may be allowing fear to keep you from learning while competitors quietly figure out how to use AI to work faster and operate smarter.
That does not mean ignoring real concerns about privacy, security or regulation.
It means replacing fear with skepticism.
Test different tools, check their work, protect your data and avoid becoming dependent on a single platform.
Fear freezes you, while skepticism keeps you sharp.
Your experience and judgment still matter, and AI should amplify them rather than replace them.
The entrepreneurs who keep learning now may be the ones with the advantage later. Read More... |

Final Thoughts |
AI is quickly moving from helping us create to actually helping us do..... |
That opens up some pretty exciting possibilities for small businesses like ours.
But we don't need every new tool that comes along.
This week, look at something you're already doing and ask: “Could AI make this one step easier?”
Maybe it saves 20 minutes. Maybe it turns one piece of content into three. Maybe it handles something you've been putting off.
Small improvements add up.
The goal isn't more AI.
It's a simpler, smarter business.
Until Next week...
xo,
P.S. And yes, “until next week” now means Tuesday. We're officially giving Tuesdays a shot for the Self Made Success newsletter. |
