Happy Monday, everyone!
I hope all the amazing mamas out there had a fantastic Mother’s Day. I certainly did—spent the day with my daughter, my husband, and his family over a delicious dinner. And let's not forget... my hubby completely scored points with a gorgeous sterling silver heart necklace, flowers, and sweet cards. Definitely feeling the love, and I hope you did too!
Now... let’s talk about something that might not be as shiny as a necklace but is super important if you're sending emails or newsletters like me—getting those emails to actually show up where they belong… in the inbox!
This past week, I went down the rabbit hole of email deliverability. Yep, I’ve been in the trenches trying to figure out why some of my newsletters were going MIA. I use a pretty awesome tool for sending my emails, so naturally, I was like... “Why on earth is this happening?!”
Turns out, I was missing one tiny character in my DMARC record. ONE. LITTLE. CHARACTER. ๐ฑ
Who knew that something so small could make such a big difference? But before I caught that little rascal, I went through a lot of head-scratching and testing to figure out what was going wrong. Along the way, I stumbled across some cool tools that helped me break down exactly why emails end up in spam or the dreaded Promotions folder instead of your lovely inbox.
These tools let you test across Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and more to see where your emails land—and they even give you a spam score. Pretty neat, right?
After fixing that sneaky mistake in my DNS records (hello, missing _ in DMARC), I got a perfect 10/10 spam score. ๐ฏ I was doing a happy dance, y’all!
But here’s where you come in... I could use your help. If you’re receiving my emails, would you do me a huge favor? If it’s landing in your inbox—awesome, let me know! If it’s hiding out in Promotions or Spam, let me know that too (and maybe drag it over to the inbox to whitelist me while you’re at it).
This is one of those behind-the-scenes things we don’t talk about enough, but it can make or break your newsletter success. And because I want your emails and newsletters to shine in the inbox too, I’ve added the list of cool tools in the community. Go to Community here
Let’s make those inboxes a happy place again! ๐ฉโจ
